David took care of sheep. |
David, an Israelite boy who watched sheep, was asked by his father to take food to his older brothers who were fighting against the Philistines.
|
Everyone was afraid of Goliath. |
When David took the food to his brothers he heard a Philistine giant named Goliath ask for the Israelites to send out one person to fight him. He was strong and very tall and everyone was afraid of him. If the person the Israelites sent to fight him won then their whole country would win the war. But, if the Israelites lost the fight, the Philistines would win the battle.

Again, God had helped David to kill a bear that came after the sheep he watched and took care of. |
|
David put his trust in God, and so God was with him. |
David had faith and trust that God would also help him win the battle against the Philistine giant. David fought and defeated Goliath with his slingshot and a rock and won the battle for God’s people, the Israelites!

David Defeats Goliath !!! |
God changed David from being a shepherd that watched sheep to being the King over the whole country of Israel. 1 Samuel 17: 37,45,50 |
|
|
David the king, who put his trust in God. |
Because David did a good job taking care of sheep and also loved and protected God's people from the Philistine army, God placed David to be king over His people, the Israelites.
